MicroSD card breakout board+

This Adafruit microSD breakout includes a 5V–3V regulator (150mA) and proper level shifting, making it compatible with 3.3V and 5V systems. Use 3–4 pins for 2GB+ storage, with an activity LED, push-push socket, mounting holes and Arduino support.

This Adafruit microSD adapter isn’t just a basic breakout board — it’s designed to be genuinely easy to use and reliable in real projects. It includes an onboard 5V to 3V regulator that can supply up to 150mA, making it suitable even for power-hungry microSD cards. Built-in 3V level shifting means it works smoothly with both 3.3V and 5V systems, and it uses a proper level shifting chip rather than simple resistors for fewer issues and faster read/write performance.

With just 3 or 4 digital pins, you can read and write to 2GB+ of storage, and an activity LED lights up whenever the card is being accessed. The push-push socket is positioned, so the card sits slightly over the edge of the PCB, making insertion and removal easy. It also includes four #2 mounting holes for secure installation.

A 0.1" header is included (unattached), so you can solder it for breadboard use or wire it up however you prefer. Each board is assembled and tested at the Adafruit factory, and it works especially well with Arduino thanks to the available example code and wiring diagrams.

Features

  • To use with an Arduino, connect GND to ground, 5V to 5V, CLK to pin 13, DO to pin 12, DI to pin 11, and CS to pin 10. Then you can use the Arduino IDE's SD library which supports FAT and FAT32 SD cards. For details on getting started, check out the detailed tutorial.
